Avoid Nonessential Travel

U.S. Department of State

  • Nigeria Travel Warning. The Department of State warns U.S. citizens of the risks of travel to Nigeria and recommends that U.S. citizens avoid all travel to Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe states because the security situation in northeast Nigeria remains fluid and unpredictable.
  • Turkey Travel Warning. The U.S. Department of State warns U.S. citizens against travel to southeastern Turkey due to an increased threat of terrorist attacks from both international and indigenous terror groups.

Take Enhanced Precautions

CDC

  • Zika virus advisory. CDC recommends that travelers to Cape Verde, Pacific Islands, Central America, South America, the Caribbean, and Mexico protect themselves from mosquito bites. Sexual transmission of Zika virus from a male partner is possible, so travelers are also encouraged to use condoms.
  • Zika Virus updates. Access the Zika Virus map, relevant advice on Prevention, Interim Recommendations for Pregnant Women, and Questions and Answers.
  • Yellow Fever in Angola. CDC recommends that all travelers aged 9 months or older be vaccinated against yellow fever.
  • Carnival and Mardi Gras. If you plan to travel outside the United States to celebrate Carnival, you can take some simple precautions to help you stay safe and healthy.

  • Iran Travel Warning. The Department of State warns U.S. citizens to carefully consider the risks of travel to Iran.
  • Uganda Travel Alert. The State Department alerts U.S. citizens residing in or traveling to Uganda to the upcoming general elections scheduled for February 18, and local elections scheduled between February 24 and March 10.
