The U.S. Department of State and the Government of UK recommend to avoid non-essential travel or all travel to areas of Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo, Cameroon, and Ecuador. The U.S. Department of State and the Government of Canada warn of risks of travel due to natural disasters or road safety to areas of Dominica, Puerto Rico, and Thailand. The Government of Canada and the UK warn of risks of travel due to terrorism or kidnapping to areas of Cameroon, Yemen, Kenya, Saudi Arabia, and Ecuador. The Government of Canada and the UK warn of risk of travel due to protests and demonstrations to areas of Sierra Leone, Chile, The Occupied Palestinian Territories, Israel, Nigeria, and France. On other risks, the UK government reports on the typhoid fever outbreak in Zimbabwe, and the need to buy tram tickets with other than cash in Amsterdam. International SOS advises business travelers planning to visit Russia on the need to be aware of the potential impacts and plan accordingly.

The U.S. Department of State warns about risks for travel to Pakistan, Haiti and Honduras, and releases an updated Worldwide Caution notice. The CDC reminds travelers of the risk of travel to areas affected by hurricanes Irma and Maria in the Caribbean, shares a Measles advisory for England and Greece, and shares travel health tips for travelers to the Winter Olympics, Lunar New Year, and the Carnival and Mardi Gras. The CDC also reports on the containment of the plague outbreak in Madagascar. The United Nations calls for restraint on violent dispersion of protests in Kinshasha, DRC. GDACS reports on the impact of the Tropical Cyclone AVA-18 in Madagascar.

The U.S. Department of State warns about risks for travel to North Korea. The CDC recommends to postpone travel to areas affected by Hurricanes Irma and Maria in the Caribbean. The CDC releases and advisory on Measles for Italy, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Romania, Indonesia, and Ukraine. WHO shares the latest situation report on the Plague outbreak in Madagascar. GDACS reports on the recent earthquake in Iran.

The CDC recommends postponing travel to severely affected areas in the Caribbean and Mexico due to Hurricanes Irma and Maria, and the recent Earthquake in Mexico. The CDC updates the Yellow Fever in Brazil travel notice, and reports on Chikungunya in Italy and Malaria in Costa Rica.

092017 – World Status Report

The U.S. Department of State warns against travel to locations that may be impacted by Hurricane Maria, and also warns about risk of travel to Cuba while recovery from Hurricane Irma is underway. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security urges to visitors and residents in the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico to finalize preparations for Hurricane Maria. The GDACS warns on the potential high humanitarian impact of Hurricane Maria. The CDC reports on Yellow Fever in Brazil and gives recommendations on Hurricane and Earthquake Safety.

090617 – Hurricane Irma

The International Center wants to offer our deepest sympathy to any of you who are affected by Hurricane Irma. The U.S. Department of State has released travel alerts recommending to avoid all travel to The Bahamas, Cuba, Dominican Republic, and Haiti; noted by the National Hurricane Center as being in the probable path of the storm’s center. International SOS recommends to defer all travel in the path of Hurricane Irma, including: Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, British Virgin Islands, Guadeloupe, Montserrat, St Kitts and Nevis, St Martin, Turks and Caicos Islands, and from the US: Florida, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands.
